Dodgy number plates targetted by police
The police are getting tough on drivers displaying dodgy number plates. The reason behind this is that misrepresented registration numbers on vehicle number plates play havoc with the ANPR cameras in use to check for uninsured drivers. It could be argued that a dodgy number plate is in fact an attempt to pervert the course of justice but current penalties of up to £1000 fine should be an adequate detterent.
